Marsha Horshok

Growing up in South Carolina, Marsha developed a strong sense of community. The friendly, hospitable people and the example set by her parents’ volunteering inspired in her a desire to give back.

After college, Marsha relocated to the Washington, D.C., area to work for a newly elected South Carolina Congressman then later began her career in the speaking industry. And for 20+ years, she represented a wide range of extraordinarily successful speakers for events around the world as a speaking industry executive. All along, she made time to help several non-profit organizations achieve their missions.

After retiring, Marsha and her husband, Randy along with their therapy dog, Ty  enjoyed a sunny life in Arizona, and she continued to deepen her involvement with non-profits. She also found time to sharpen her focus on a cause she’s always held dear: canine therapy.

Marsha and Randy now live on the shore of South Carolina’s Lake Greenwood. After the 2022 death of Ty, their therapy dog, they welcomed two new pups, one of which is now a certified therapy dog. Both of their dogs star in Marsha’s newest book, Kids and Doggies Buddy Up for Reading Fun;  A Purple Dragon Award Winner.

Marsha is a member of Alliance of Therapy Dogs. In her work, she sees firsthand how a child can build self-confidence and skills by reading to a therapy dog.  And when a dog ignites a spark of delight in the face of an assisted living resident, it brings joy to all.
